My final 3rd-year project developed in Unity 3D VR, an action-adventure stealth game with a cel-shaded cast of characters in an anthropomorphic design. My primary role in the project was lead gameplay programmer.
Combining the expertise of game design and AI programming, I was a generalist responsible for concept and implementation of gameplay logic, game mechanics and level design. I took a supportive and versatile approach to the project, serving any roles that were needed. This included full VR implementation, animation, event scripting and 3D modeling.
My philosophy for gameplay programming in this project was to think of things both from a designer’s perspective but to consider all of the technical constraints at the same time. I wanted to write code that would directly touch on the game experience such as the ‘sight-jacking’ mechanic featured in the game.
